Jennifer Ready

Jennifer is a dedicated legal professional with a strong background in client service, organization and problem-solving. She brings years of experience working directly with clients, managing complex cases, and guiding individuals through important financial and legal processes with professionalism and compassion.

Before joining Smith Trial Law, Jennifer served in leadership roles within the tax industry, where she developed expertise in communication, attention to detail, regulatory compliance and delivering exceptional client experiences. She has quickly built trust and confidence with our clients through her clear, approachable manner — and clients calling in will likely talk to Jennifer first.

Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys gardening, home improvement projects and spending time with her family. She believes that kindness, integrity and dedication are the foundation of meaningful client relationships.

Amber Ready

Amber started with the firm as a prelaw student at the University of Mary Washington, joining in June 2025. After graduating with honors in Prelaw, she is now a first-year law student. Her academic record is marked by multiple scholarships, repeated placement on the Dean’s List, and most recently the President’s List, which requires no less than a 4.0 grade-point average.

Alongside a rigorous academic schedule, Amber has gained professional experience through roles in banking and retail management, as well as several startup projects. That blend of scholarly achievement and practical experience positions her as a promising recruit to the broader legal community. More importantly, her maturity, integrity and drive for excellence make her a great addition to the Smith Trial Law team.

Erin Applegarth

Erin is a paralegal with experience supporting attorneys in criminal defense, family law, intellectual property and business litigation. She earned her Associate of Applied Science in Paralegal Studies from Northern Virginia Community College’s ABA-approved program, graduating cum laude, and is currently completing her Bachelor of Arts in Law and Society through Penn State.

Her experience includes legal research, drafting pleadings and motions, managing discovery, reviewing case materials, coordinating court filings, and helping attorneys keep matters organized and moving forward.

She brings a practical, detail-oriented approach to every matter and is especially passionate about constitutional law, criminal justice and access to effective legal representation. After completing her bachelor’s degree, Erin plans to attend law school and continue building a career centered on advocacy and meaningful client service.
